
Overview
GLY is seeking a skilled and collaborative Senior Estimator to join our team. This role is essential in guiding project teams, design partners, and subcontractors through the early stages of the construction lifecycle by developing accurate, comprehensive cost estimates and driving clarity around scope and budget. Leveraging strong technical expertise and market knowledge, the Estimator performs detailed quantity takeoffs, evaluates subcontractor proposals, identifies risks and opportunities, and contributes to constructability and value-analysis efforts. Working closely with preconstruction and project teams, this position supports seamless transitions into field execution, helps align design intent with budget goals, and fosters a culture of teamwork, precision, and continuous improvement.
What You Get to Do
Independently lead or plan team cost estimating efforts on a wide range of projects for key clientele in the Pacific Northwest.
Develop work plan, trade partner engagement and reporting / sorting capabilities.
Prepare analytics and conduct final accuracy reviews for client review or presentations within stated deadlines.
Participate in constructability reviews to provide feedback for design team, with a focus on adherence to standards and development of fully coordinated documents.
Exhibit enhanced communication and coordination skills with internal and external clients (i.e. project team, owner and design team, trade partners).
Demonstrate solid knowledge of all major elements of self-performed work, primarily Div 1: GC/GR’s, Div 3: Concrete, and Div 6: Wood; demonstrate understanding of all 48 Divisions of work.
Maintain technical, pricing, and industry trend information, communicating estimating database unit pricing and evolving the database to stay current with market pricing.
Understand, prioritize, and take ownership of estimating department initiatives for improvements to group, project, and overall corporate goals.
Mentor and train others in estimating fundamentals, techniques, tools, and software applications.
Assist project teams with identifying, understanding, and developing plans to communicate and mitigate risk.
Maintain connectedness to project teams during construction to understand craft production rates, new techniques, lessons learned, etc.
Stay abreast of industry and market developments affecting construction costs.
What It Takes
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field
10+ years current and relevant experience in commercial construction estimating
Strong computer and technical skills
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work independently and on teams
Solid time management and organization skills

The salary range for this position is $160,000 to $190,000.
