About the Role We are seeking a dedicated
Leasing Consultant
to lead all activities related to apartment rentals, move‑ins, and lease renewals for our property located in North Bergen, NJ. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee our leasing business at the property while delivering a high level of service to our residents.
Reporting to the Property Manager, the Leasing Consultant interacts directly with prospective and current residents to achieve maximum occupancy and assists residents throughout their residency.
Key Responsibilities
Promptly respond to phone calls and emails from guests and prospective tenants.
Review unit availability daily.
Walk tour paths, vacant units, and make‑readies daily to ensure the “model” apartments and target apartments are ready for showing; maintain clean and orderly work areas and office, and be aware of the property’s curb appeal.
Gather information to learn about the property, surrounding community, and competition.
Lead guests to vacant or model apartments and discuss features and benefits that meet their needs.
Record all traffic in computer daily.
Create applicant files, process applications, and verify qualifications of applicants.
Present all applications to the Property Manager for approval.
Contact applicants to confirm approval or denial within 24 hours.
Complete lease agreements and schedule lease signings within 24 hours of approval.
Ensure applicant setups and payment processing are complete within 24 hours.
Inspect premises periodically and arrange for necessary maintenance.
Participate in outside marketing events and assist in marketing and promotion of properties.
Assist manager with requested work on the property.
Maintain courteous communication with residents, applicants, and other companies.
Adhere to federal and state Fair Housing laws and all company policies.
Support the team in achieving property goals.
Maintain a “team spirit” and work well with the entire staff.
Demonstrate flexibility with hours and days worked.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or GED; or one to three years of experience in a related field (property management, hotel management, or other commission‑incentivized field).
Sales and/or customer service training required.
Strong computer skills with Microsoft software.
Knowledge of Yardi or other property management software is a plus.
Can‑do attitude is required.
