Focus of Position

Serve as the onsite operations lead for weekly Rockford City Market and North End City Market events.

Manage vendor, musician, activation, and kitchen relationships to support smooth market operations and a positive guest experience.

Work closely with the Executive Director to execute themed nights and support overall market quality and engagement.

Acts as a liaison between RCM and community, city, and state groups to maintain awareness of changes in the food access landscape and program development.

Responsibilities and Objectives

Serve as the primary point of contact for vendors throughout the season, including applications, onboarding, scheduling, booth placements, compliance, and ongoing support.

Ensure vendors follow market rules, agreements, and city health standards while tracking attendance, issues, and vendor performance.

Manage performer applications, scheduling, contracts, arrival instructions, and onsite needs, serving as point person for musicians during market hours.

Execute themed nights and onsite activations planned by the Executive Director, coordinating logistics with participating organizations and partners and overseeing guest engagement.

Lead weekly market operations by coordinating vendor and musician check-in, troubleshooting day-of issues, supporting volunteers, assisting with overall market flow, and completing end-of-night vendor wrap.

Provide onsite support during market days as needed, including assisting with bar service and other operational tasks to ensure smooth event execution.

Manage the RCM Incubator Kitchen program, serving as primary point of contact for kitchen users, coordinating onboarding and scheduling, ensuring compliance with kitchen agreements and health department standards, maintaining kitchen supplies, overseeing biweekly cleaning, and supporting kitchen clients with troubleshooting.

Coordinate billing support and track kitchen usage.

Manage SNAP/LINK Match program data and reimbursement submissions.

Maintain vendor and musician databases and provide weekly market recaps to the Executive Director outlining attendance, challenges, and wins.

Ensure administrative tasks outside of market hours are completed accurately and responsively.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated experience managing staff, volunteers, clients and/ or vendors.

Demonstrated experience collaborating with diverse groups, developing and maintaining effective working relationships with stakeholders including vendors, farmers, community members, sponsors, local media, the general public, and staff.

Experience in developing and facilitating event programming.

Good problem solving and organizational skills, along with strong time management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks at once.

Proficient with Google Workspace, and comfortable learning new tools and technologies as needed in this role.

Ability to work evenings and weekends (markets and community events).

Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs.
