Job Summary The purpose of this position is to receive, analyze, and assess criminal information of a confidential and non-confidential nature and disseminate analytical products or information in keeping with agency policies and procedures. Provide accurate real-time tactical support utilizing technology and information systems.

This posting is only open to current, full-time, regular (non-probationary) employees of the Louisville Metro Police Department Job Details The Tactical Crime Intel Analyst position is housed within LMPD’s Real Time Crime Center (RTCC). The RTCC is a 24/7 unit consisting of 3 shifts. The position we are currently hiring for is on 2nd shift (4:00 p.m. to midnight). All shifts have rotating days off, working weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

Identifies, receives, evaluates, correlates, analyzes, and transmits information and criminal intelligence (I&CI) that frequently involves emergency and critical situations affecting public and officer safety in real time and for investigative purposes.

Conducts research and analysis of criminal, commercial, homeland security, and open source databases to provide I&CI which aid in investigations, developing investigative leads, identification of suspects, assists with apprehensions, and assists in the clearance of cases.

Monitors any provided technologically advanced camera systems and conducts video reviews for incidents that occurred on camera but were not witnessed in real time.

Relays information from camera systems to dispatchers, officers, other law enforcement or public safety entities.

Provides real‑time analytical support for law enforcement, occasionally while working off‑site, or in any related capacity.

Assists with and maintains awareness of events, investigative leads, requests, etc. in a real‑time tactical or investigative capacity.

Creates bulletins, link‑analysis diagrams, social media analysis, profiles on suspected criminals, situational awareness bulletins, presentations, and detailed analytical judgments for tactical situations and investigative purposes.

Identifies tactical investigative links regarding suspects and criminal activity.

Detects and identifies criminal activities, trends, entities, criminal nexus, and participants in a real‑time tactical capacity.

Assists with special details including, but not limited to: task forces, special projects, intelligence liaison programs, etc.

Prioritizes incidents often with conflicting timelines and requirements necessitating sound analytical judgment and discretion.

Meets regularly, both scheduled and not, and collaborates with internal uniformed, investigative, and/or other law enforcement agencies, both sworn and analytical, for the exchange and dissemination of information.

Maintains access to, and security of, highly sensitive materials and I&CI.

Testifies in court proceedings, as necessary.

Trains Tactical Criminal Intelligence Analysts, as needed.

Performs related work.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Homeland Security, Criminal Justice, Intelligence Studies or related discipline.

An equivalent combination of education and professional experience may be substituted.

Other Minimum Requirements

Must be able to obtain secret security clearance.

Must submit to a pre‑employment drug screening.

Must submit to a pre‑employment polygraph test.

Must pass a background investigation.

Must be of good moral character, with no criminal or felony record inconsistent with the provisions of this paragraph. Unacceptable will be persons who have been convicted of a felony, or who have any criminal action pending against them.

An applicant may be disqualified for multiple misdemeanors, an unacceptable criminal record, or multiple traffic violations.

Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.

Must submit to fingerprinting for criminal history check.

Applicants who have illegally bought or used marijuana, including medicinal cannabis, within six months of application will be disqualified.

Applicants who have illegally sold marijuana, including medicinal cannabis, within one year of application will be disqualified.

Applicants who have illegally bought, sold, or used any controlled substance or narcotic drug, other than marijuana, without a prescription within six years of application will be disqualified.

Physical Demands

Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.

May be required to work nights, weekends, holidays and emergencies (man‑made or natural) to meet the business needs of Louisville Metro Government.
