Role Summary
The Executive Director, Head of Global Compliance Policies and Training leads the global ethics and healthcare compliance policies and training program, aligning with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements. This strategic role partners with senior leaders, shapes the compliance culture, and drives measurable risk reduction and employee engagement. Based in Foster City, CA. Responsibilities
Drive the strategic direction and long-term vision for global ethics and compliance policies and training, ensuring alignment with company and functional strategy. Advise and consult with senior leadership on strategic issues with company-wide impact, supporting a strong culture of ethics and compliance and ensuring activities comply with laws and regulations. Serve as the principal decision-maker for global policies and training, with authority to approve, implement, and retire policies and programs. Develop, review, and update global policies to ensure they are current, comprehensive, and aligned with requirements and values, integrating policies and training. Oversee integration of policies and training strategy into enterprise-wide compliance frameworks and Learning & Development strategy. Leverage AI to deliver innovative trainings, assess policy and training effectiveness, and assist in policy creation. Design and drive implementation of comprehensive training programs, including interactive materials, e-learning modules, workshops, and seminars. Define and track KPIs for policy and training effectiveness; report outcomes and recommendations to leadership and drive improvements. Collaborate with stakeholders across the company to identify needs, develop resources, and raise understanding of policies and ethical standards. Act as a strategic advisor and spokesperson on ethics and compliance policies and training, internally and externally. Stay current on ethics and compliance developments, industry trends, adult-learning principles, and innovative technology and analytics, including AI-enabled methods. Champion inclusion in policy development, training, and leadership; ensure consistent messaging across communications channels. Lead, develop, and inspire a diverse global team; set objectives, manage performance, and foster accountability, innovation, and development. Oversee budget and resource planning for the Policies and Training function, including investments in AI technologies. Represent the company in external forums, regulatory meetings, and industry groups; build strategic partnerships and advocate for best practices. Apply crisis management learnings to policy and training improvements; manage investigations, reporting, and remediation for major issues. Drive change management initiatives to adopt new policies, training programs, and regulatory requirements. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree is required (BA/BS) with 16+ years of experience, or MS/MA or MBA, or Ph.D. or Juris Doctorate with 14+ years of experience. Fully qualified legal credentials in one or more geographies of operations are preferred but not required. Extensive in-house experience in biotech, pharmaceuticals, or other highly regulated industries, or law firm advising in related areas, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Management experience and a track record of leading global teams and initiatives. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and ideally additional languages relevant to the company’s operations. Knowledge, Experience And Skills
