
The Axel Group is actively seeking an experienced Sales Manager to join our client, a well-established, family-owned HVAC company based in Freehold, NJ. With over 40 years in business and a strong reputation in the local market. This is a key leadership hire responsible for overseeing all inbound HVAC sales and helping grow the sales function as the company expands its residential footprint and begins light commercial work.
Summary / Objective The Sales Manager will lead the company’s residential HVAC sales efforts from initial customer contact through contract execution, ensuring a high-quality, consultative sales experience. This role requires a strong HVAC background, proven closing ability, and the leadership skills needed to eventually build and manage a sales team.
You will work closely with ownership, the office team, and field operations to drive revenue, improve systems, and maintain exceptional customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and close all inbound residential HVAC sales leads (no cold calling)
Conduct in-home consultations and recommend full system replacements and upgrades
Maintain a 60–80% close rate on qualified leads
Follow and help optimize the company’s CRM and sales processes
Coordinate with installation and service teams to ensure smooth project execution
Participate in weekly leadership meetings and contribute to business strategy
Track sales performance, forecasting, and pipeline activity
Help recruit, train, and lead additional salespeople as volume increases
Preferred Experience & Qualifications
7–10+ years of HVAC sales experience
Proven track record of high close rates and revenue production
Comfortable using CRM systems and modern sales tools
Strong organizational, communication, and customer-facing skills
Commission: 5% of gross sales, with strong earning potential
