About the Role Reporting to the Procurement Manager, this role is critical in ensuring Peabody’s external labour and mining services network is effectively engaged to support operational delivery across our sites. You will lead strategic sourcing and category strategies for
Labour and Mining Services , partnering closely with operational leaders, site teams, and commercial stakeholders to deliver cost, quality, and supply performance.
This role requires strong commercial capability, deep understanding of labour and services markets, and the ability to influence both internal stakeholders and external partners. You will negotiate service agreements, evaluate supplier capability, manage contract performance, and drive continuous improvement in labour availability, workforce quality, and service delivery outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute category strategies for
Labour and Mining Services , ensuring alignment with site operational requirements
Conduct labour market analysis, supply risk assessments, and sourcing initiatives to secure sustainable service capability
Negotiate and manage service contracts, including performance frameworks, rate structures, and service-level expectations
Provide commercial insights, reporting, and workforce analytics to support operational decision making
Maintain SAP controls and support process improvements across procurement and contract management
Resolve commercial issues across labour and services portfolios
Build strong relationships with mine sites, labour providers, and service delivery partners
Drive continuous improvement across safety, performance, cost, delivery, and workforce quality
The Lifestyle This is a permanent full-time position based at our Fortitude Valley office. Peabody supports flexible work options including hybrid office/home arrangements and ½ day Fridays. Occasional travel to our NSW and QLD mine sites will be required to engage with operational leaders, understand labour needs, and support successful contract execution.
About You We are seeking a commercially astute category specialist with strong experience in procurement, labour engagement, and contract management within mining, heavy industry, or large-scale operational environments. You enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and achieve results through collaboration, influence, and a deep understanding of service delivery.
You will bring:
Minimum 5 years’ experience in
labour and mining services procurement, contracting and category management (mining or similar industry preferred)
Strong analytical and commercial evaluation skills
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication capabilities
Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, commerce, law, engineering, or related discipline (preferred)
Experience with ERP systems (SAP and/or Ariba advantageous)
A proactive and detail-oriented mindset with a strong focus on contract performance and supplier relationships
