
Overview
We’re looking for an
Engineer Director
who will lead and oversee RMS Energy’s expanding electrical engineering services business unit, driving technical excellence, project execution, and team development. This role exists to support RMS Energy’s business growth by providing strategic and technical leadership in power systems engineering services, including switchgear modifications, low- and medium-voltage retrofits and retrofills, custom power distribution equipment, protection and control design, electrical system studies, and power system design. The Engineer Director ensures high-quality engineering delivery, fosters innovation, and builds a high-performing team to meet client and business objectives.
What You’ll Do
Lead expansion of the electrical engineering services business unit to achieve 20–30% YOY growth Direct regional engineering teams to deliver high-quality designs, analysis, and custom solutions Provide technical input and market insight to support sales and business development strategy Oversee development and expansion of core electrical engineering service offerings Ensure all solutions meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications Maintain expertise in key standards including NEC, NFPA 70E/70B, IEEE 1584, IEEE 1547, IEEE C37 and 3000 series and represent RMS Energy in industry forums Build scalable processes and procedures to support growth and consistent quality deliverables Develop technical proposals and presentations demonstrating service value Conduct customer site visits to assess needs and provide hands-on technical support Lead technical customer engagement including conferences, presentations, and lunch & learns and train sales teams Support contract negotiations by defining technical requirements Oversee process documentation for training, sales, and custom solution execution Manage resource planning, schedules, budgets, and P&L for the business unit
The Experience We’re Looking For
10–15 years of experience in technical engineering roles with exposure to generation, industrial, or commercial power systems 5–10 years of experience managing teams delivering similar products or services within the industry Proven experience with full P&L responsibility including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and revenue growth Experience training sales teams and providing technical support for products and services Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook Proficiency in relevant engineering software such as AutoCAD, ETAP, SKM PowerTools, and EasyPower
Additional Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering preferred, other engineering disciplines considered Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record Ability to pass a stringent drug screening and background check Willingness to travel up to 35% across the U.S. Strong analytical skills with ability to drive innovation through market and competitor insight Excellent communication and presentation skills with a strong customer focus Strong organizational, time management, leadership, and decision-making skills managing multiple priorities
