About the Role
MIRACORP, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Communications Specialist to support internal and external communications for the U.S. Department of Energy's Idaho Operations Office (DOE-ID) and Nuclear Energy (DOE-NE) programs. This role develops and manages communication products-including presentations, talking points, white papers, newsletters, and web content-to ensure clear, accurate, and consistent messaging across federal audiences. The Communications Specialist ensures all materials meet DOE standards and effectively convey program objectives to diverse stakeholders.

Essential Functions
Content Development & Writing
Draft, edit, and finalize articles, letters, talking points, and official documents Develop and coordinate presentations, briefing materials, and communication products Prepare reports and written materials tailored to various audiences Communications & Outreach Support
Support newsletters, public relations efforts, and outreach activities Conduct research to inform communication strategies and messaging Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure consistent messaging Digital & Web Content Management
Update and maintain web content and digital communication materials Ensure all content aligns with DOE communication guidelines and plain-language standards Project Coordination & Quality Assurance
Track communication tasks, deadlines, and deliverables Review materials for accuracy, clarity, and compliance with federal style guides Support communication planning and coordination across DOE-ID and DOE-NE programs Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Affairs, English, or related field and
3+ years
of relevant experience
OR
Associate's degree and
5 years
OR
7 years
of direct experience Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills Experience creating content for presentations, web, and reports Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and presentation software Familiarity with federal communication guidelines and plain-language standards Preferred Qualifications
