
Estimator for Structural Steel Erection
GPAC is excited to present a fantastic opportunity for a Structural Steel Erection Estimator with our esteemed client, a full-service construction company that excels in turn-key erection projects. This organization specializes in a variety of commercial and industrial steel structures.
Key Duties:
Thoroughly review construction documents, including plans and specifications.
Conduct material take-offs and calculate labor and material costs to create precise estimates and bid proposals.
Manage the entire lifecycle of a bid from initial invitation to final proposal submission.
Execute detailed take-offs of construction documents.
Understand various phases of metal erection, including time management for each phase.
Key Responsibilities:
Grasp the project's requirements and objectives.
Identify key variables for accurate cost and estimate calculations.
Research labor costs, materials, and production timelines.
Utilize software for effective data analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
Conduct thorough risk analyses.
Create and submit estimate reports or bids to project managers, clients, and bidding entities.
Cultivate strong relationships with vendors, including subcontractors, suppliers, and engineers.
Provide insightful consultation on project planning, such as schedules and manpower needs.
Investigate documentation to enhance understanding of project requirements.
Measure and track vital project metrics.
Prepare reliable forecasts based on research and analysis.
Effectively present reports to upper management.
Evaluate and analyze offers from vendors.
Maintain lasting relationships with key stakeholders.
Interpret blueprints and other relevant documents to prepare accurate estimates.
Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and architects to ensure estimate accuracy.
Make final decisions on estimate calculations and adjustments.
Present estimates to clients in a professional manner.
Advise on potential cost-reduction strategies.
Support the sales team in finalizing project transactions.
Keep comprehensive records of all project documentation, including estimates and completion documentation.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Proficiency in architectural and structural drawings, along with project specifications, is essential. Strong analytical skills and mathematical proficiency are a must, accompanied by experience using Excel spreadsheets, Microsoft Word, and QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise Solutions.
Experience with On Screen Take Off (OST) is mandatory.
An understanding of construction documents, change orders, and requests for information (RFIs) is crucial.
