
SUMMARY:
The Director Origination, Natural Gas for Mitsui & Co. Energy Marketing and Services ("MEMS") will be responsible for identifying, valuing, and bidding on term structured transactions in markets across the US and with particular focus on Northeast and Mid-Atlantic markets. This will include transportation, storage, and other term transactions such as Asset Management Agreements (AMA's). The successful candidate will also be expected to help build MEMS' Natural Gas business into adjacent and/or other targeted market areas as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES: Identify, value and bid on structured transactions to enhance Mitsui's natural gas portfolio. May include transportation, storage, long-term Park & Loans, supply, demand, and Asset Management Agreements (AMA's). Supervise other gas originator(s) as assigned. Work with traders, schedulers, and Mitsui management team on deal identification & evaluation process. Work with origination personnel from Mitsui's other trading desks such as power, LNG, new energy, and oil, to identify and value opportunities that may cover a variety of commodities. Improve Mitsui's deal valuation / structuring process. Support Mitsui's fundamentals & analytics group. Support other Mitsui divisions that have exposure to US gas infrastructure. This may include negotiating long-term midstream agreements on behalf of those entities. Assist with monitoring midstream developments such as expansion projects, rate filings, or other items that may impact Mitsui. Communicate any critical developments in a timely manner. Timely communication with traders and scheduling personnel regarding market and pipeline information. Any other duties as directed by Manager. Adherence to all corporate Risk Management policies and procedures REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Proven experience in contract negotiations for transportation, storage, and term structured transactions Ability to develop and supervise other originator(s) Understanding of deal valuation & structuring process Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Word) Excellent analytical skills with keen attention to detail Exceptional communication and presentation skills Proactive problem-solving Ability to work in a team environment EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Undergraduate degree or equivalent related work experience [Finance or Accounting preferred) Minimum 10 years of Natural Gas Industry experience required Minimum 5 years of gas origination experience required LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Fluent verbal and written skills in English WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Physical demands include:
Prolonged periods of sitting and may need to routinely move around to communicate with different groups Domestic business travel is expected while international travel may be required on occasion Occasionally work late to meet with Tokyo office Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
