The Director of Clinical Learning and Development Programs provides visionary leadership in crafting, implementing, and maintaining clinical education initiatives that champion patient safety and foster excellence among healthcare professionals in a large urban teaching hospital serving a diverse patient population. This essential role guarantees that all team members and trainees access top-tier education that adheres to evidence-based practices, regulatory requirements, and organizational safety objectives. By promoting a culture dedicated to zero harm and high reliability, this leader will weave principles of patient safety, just culture, and continuous improvement into all training efforts. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership & Integration of High Reliability:

Design and implement a comprehensive clinical learning strategy that augments patient safety and high reliability methodologies across all service lines. Collaborate with Quality, Patient Safety, and Risk Management teams to align clinical education with error prevention and organizational goals. Instill High Reliability Organization (HRO) principles into training programs at all levels, ensuring that staff are equipped to handle high-acuity cases and complex social dynamics through advanced decision-making and communication training. Curriculum Development & Learning Innovation:

Spearhead the creation and deployment of competency-based, simulation-oriented, and inter-professional training programs tailored to a high-risk, high-volume, and complex hospital environment. Embrace technology-enhanced learning tools (e.g., virtual reality, AI-based simulation) to elevate clinical competency and immediate decision-making skills. Facilitate training for rapid response and crisis interventions, preparing staff for scenarios including mass casualty incidents and disaster situations. Evolve a learning health system model capitalizing on real-time clinical data to continuously enhance training effectiveness. Workforce Development & Academic Collaboration:

Cultivate partnerships with medical, nursing, and allied health education institutions to ensure curricula align with real-world requirements. Strengthen new graduate education programs and create pathways for career advancement and workforce retention. Collaborate with community health organizations to integrate hospital educational endeavors with broader health equity initiatives. Performance Measurement & Continuous Improvement:

Establish data-driven metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of clinical education programs regarding patient outcomes and safety improvements. Implement real-time feedback mechanisms to foster a culture of continuous learning and responsiveness to patient safety insights. Utilize predictive analytics to identify training gaps and proactively address emerging clinical challenges. Ensure compliance with all accreditation and regulatory standards associated with clinical education. Leadership & Organizational Alignment:

Lead a diverse, multidisciplinary team of clinical educators, specialists, and patient safety authorities to deliver impactful training programs. Advocate for a psychologically safe environment that encourages reporting, learning from incidents, and contributing to system-wide enhancements. Oversee resource allocation for clinical learning technology, educator advancement, and workforce development initiatives. Act as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on clinical education and patient safety strategy. Qualifications: Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Medical Education, or a related field (Doctorate preferred). Valid Florida RN license required. Advanced Nursing Administration certification or related certification. A minimum of 10 years’ experience in clinical education, high reliability initiatives, or professional development in complex teaching hospitals. Demonstrated expertise in competency-based education, regulatory compliance, and inter-professional learning. Exceptional leadership and strategic planning capabilities, with proficiency in driving culture change and system-wide educational initiatives. Preferred Qualifications: Experience leading extensive clinical learning initiatives in urban public hospitals serving diverse, multilingual demographics. Background in public health and health equity-based training programs. Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other quality improvement methodologies. Proven success in utilizing data and analytics to enhance educational outcomes and patient safety. Expertise in High Reliability principles and a just culture environment is highly desirable.
