The Procurement Director - Information Technology (IT), Lab and R&D directs the development and maintenance of leading edge global and regional sourcing strategies and appropriate supply bases with clear spend governance for the assigned group of categories. Brings subject matter expertise in both the coaching of category teams as well as in ensuring that external partners deliver sustainable value for BD.

Responsibilities:

For the assigned group of categories, ensure that Global category teams are formed, functional and effective, and that resulting category strategies are communicated and approved

Category strategies are inclusive of regional business requirements, reflective of external regional market conditions, and result in 3–5-year roadmaps of savings and value streams. Innovation opportunities are evaluated and analyzed for consideration in the development of category strategies

Expected to engage and partner with C-suite level stakeholders to ensure strategic direction is aligned with functional and business strategies

Develop a robust supplier selection process that is consistent with the needs of the sourcing strategies and that supplier selection is approved by the appropriate stakeholders and communicated appropriately to the end user community

Year-on-year financial accountability for group of categories with respect to price movement and market dynamics

Accountable for strategic planning, negotiation, and contracting with suppliers in with stakeholder and business collaboration

Responsible for leading and coordinating supplier relationship management activities across the assigned group of categories at executive and C-Suite levels in the organization

Accountability for developing and maintaining risk mitigation plans inclusive of compliance for assigned group of categories with businesses or functions

Ensures optimal supply base compliance for assigned supply base including compliance to corporate procedures and support of all legislation driven and socially responsible reporting requirements

Ensures appropriate application of the source-to-pay process, inclusive of customer-centric support content and preferred payment methods, as part of sourcing strategies

Responsible for the selection, development, allocation and evaluation of a team of sourcing associates. Areas of support and guidance include spend penetration, sourcing strategy development, source plan creation, ongoing supplier relationship management and stakeholder alignment and engagement

Ensures alignment of Procurement and customer goals, and consequently plays a key role in influencing significant business decisions and resource planning

Understands customer business/ function / region strategy and requirements

Ensures the customer business / function / region strategy and requirements are appropriately reflected in the category strategies and implementation plans

Drives category strategies and STP process improvements into the business / function / region

Qualifications:

Direct experience working with large global Information Technology (IT) services and consulting companies in the areas of software, hardware and R&D/lab services to enable value creation and innovation

Knowledge of large commercial terms and conditions and the full range of contracting options and operating models for global Information Technology (IT) services and consulting companies. Experience leading and coaching teams through complex negotiations and transformations

High degree of specific category knowledge in the areas of global Information Technology (IT) including - hardware, software, cloud, IT services, telecommunications and R&D/Lab Services

Specific understanding of technology and global Information Technology (IT) risk and methodologies including cybersecurity, cloud, IoT and AI/ML

Demonstrated skills building relationships and networking both internally and externally with the ability to work at all levels in the organization, including C-Suite stakeholders, both internal and external

Education

Bachelor's degree in a related technical field

MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred

Minimum of ten years professional experience

Minimum five years managing professionals

Salary Range Information

$169,700.00 - $305,700.00 USD Annual
