Role Overview

As the IT Business Relationship Director for Technical Operations, you will serve as the strategic interface between IT and the Technical Operations organization, which includes R&D, Clinical Research, and Medical Affairs. You will be responsible for shaping and delivering technology solutions that enable innovation, accelerate clinical outcomes, and support our mission to expand access and improve lives.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Business Engagement & Innovation

Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leaders across Technical Operations (R&D, Clinical Research, and Medical Affairs), deeply understanding their unique needs and translating business strategies into IT capabilities and roadmaps aligned with enterprise goals.
Shape and prioritize demand by guiding the development of business cases and ensuring initiatives are aligned with enterprise strategy and deliver measurable value.
Champion innovation by promoting the use of emerging technologies (e.g., AI, ML, digital twins) to accelerate product development and clinical research outcomes.

Program & Portfolio Leadership

Drive strategic digital initiatives across Technical Operations by enhancing data and analytics capabilities, supporting clinical trials, evidence generation, and regulatory submissions.
Ensure IT investments are aligned with business priorities, delivering measurable outcomes that advance innovation and operational resilience.
Strengthen foundational capabilities through robust data governance, cybersecurity, and lifecycle management to support secure and compliant operations.

Fusion Team Enablement & Product Collaboration

Orchestrate IT participation in fusion teams, ensuring the right technical experts are engaged.
Provide product managers with insights into business priorities, regional nuances, and customer needs.
Advocate for and communicate available IT services, platforms (e.g., low-code/no-code), and self-service capabilities.

Solution Sourcing

Guide business leaders in selecting appropriate solution sources-internal, external, or hybrid-and ensure formal evaluation processes are followed.

Operational Excellence

Partner with enterprise architecture and cybersecurity teams to ensure scalable, secure, and compliant solutions.
Support resilient operations through robust data governance and lifecycle management.

Compliance

Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards at both the enterprise and product levels while working closely with security and architecture teams to safeguard data and systems

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Life Sciences, Engineering, or related field; Master's preferred.
10+ years of experience in IT leadership roles, with significant exposure to R&D, Clinical, or Medical Affairs functions.
Proven track record of delivering complex digital solutions in regulated environments (e.g., FDA, GxP).
Strong understanding of data analytics, AI/ML, and digital health technologies.
Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and strategic thinking skills.

Background in product or software-based environments

The base pay for this position is
$193,300.00 - $386,700.00

The Opportunity

This role is remote and field-based. As a Senior Regional Account Manager, responsibilities entail securing access for the entire line of ADC products to the regional accounts within the territory. This includes developing relationships and mutual strategies within the defined regional accounts to open or improve access for ADC products. The channel includes Health Plans, Managed Care Organizations, Employer Groups, managed Medicaid, FFS Medicaid and Medicare plans within the market access channel.

Experience You'll Bring

Required\nFour year bachelor’s degree required in business administration or life sciences (including biology, physiology, nutrition, and/or clinical chemistry)\nMasters degree a plus\nBusiness background will aid in determining profitability of account-specific strategies and relating to customer business issues\nLife sciences background helpful due to technical nature of products. 5.0 to 7.0 years of proven successful sales track record at Abbott Laboratories\nGenerally require 7 years of successful sales experience if candidate is from outside Abbott Laboratories\nAnalytical ability, negotiation skills, and contract/legal experience; excellent oral and written communication skills (including presentation and listening skills)\nHigh energy level; positive attitude and confidence; integrity and professionalism; initiative and self-motivation; strong work ethic; career ambition; organizational skills\nStrong problem-solving skills; courage and resourcefulness; leadership and team orientation; ability to work with peers from other divisions and support groups to develop account-specific solutions
