The Sales Manager is responsible for developing and executing strategic account plans to drive revenue growth, increase market share, and strengthen long-term partnerships with assigned key national retail accounts including Bass Pro Shops, Tractor Supply Co., Costco and Menards. This role services as a primary point of contact for these high-value customers, focusing on category management, promotional planning, assortment optimization, pricing strategy, in-store execution, and collaborative business planning to achieve mutual growth objectives in the hunting, sporting goods, and outdoor categories. Monday–Friday, office hours Pay Range:
$70,000 - $103,000 annually Responsibilities: Serve as the lead relationship manager and strategic partner of key accounts. Drive revenue growth through new product placements, line extensions, increased distribution, improved shelf space, and expanded promotional activity. Negotiate contracts, trade terms, promotional funding, rebates, allowances, and joint marketing agreements to maximize profitability while meeting retailer’s needs. Work within the consumer product team to complete market analysis and determine customer needs and evaluate pricestructure, volume benefits, marketing program elements, and support materials. Analyze market trends and competitor activity to identify new opportunities and threats. Meet with key customers/prospects to deliver sales presentations, maintain relationships, negotiate, and close deals. Work with customer support to onboard new customers and service existing customers. Advise the team on the assessment of products, pricing, and features needed to meet the demands of our channel partners and end customer. Assist in coordinating trade shows and sales events promoting and selling products. Conduct regular business reviews with account buyers, category managers, and senior leadership to present performance updates, forecasts, and strategic recommendations. Develop and analyze demand forecast monthly ensuring we are staying ahead of fluctuating demand changes. Listens to the needs of our customers and brings the ideas back to cross-functional teams to develop new products and improvements. Maintain CRM systems and other sales tools to track leads, opportunities, and sales pipeline . Manage retail portals with CSR’s ensuring reliability of product and shipments to customer and profitability for Maverick through optimizing the partnerships. Key Responsibilities: Develop and execute a strategic sales plan aligned with Maverick’s goals. Conduct market analysis, identify customer needs, and evaluate pricing, volume benefits, marketing programs, and support materials. Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities and potential threats. Deliver sales presentations, negotiate, and close deals with key customers and prospects. Collaborate with Customer Support to onboard new customers and maintain service for existing accounts. Partner with Finance to establish payment terms with retail chains, distributors, and dealers. Provide insights on product features, pricing, and channel partner requirements to cross-functional teams. Coordinate trade shows and sales events to promote and sell products. Prepare and present regular sales reports, forecasts, and demand analyses to management. Manage escalated customer concerns to ensure satisfaction and retention. Maintain CRM systems and other sales tools to track leads, opportunities, and the sales pipeline. Oversee large retail portals, ensuring product reliability, on-time shipments, and profitability. Listen to customer feedback and relay insights to product teams to drive innovation and improvement. Materials and Equipment: Computer, phone, printer, copy machine, and other standard office equipment. Office-based with regular travel for client meetings and trade shows. Requirements Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred. 3+ years of sales experience, preferably selling to large retail chains, B2B, and B2C. Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). CRM and ERP experience (Epicor preferred) a plus. Experience or interest in the hunting industry is highly desirable. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong understanding of outdoor consumer products preferred. Proven ability to build and maintain relationships across multiple distribution channels. Goal-oriented, results-driven, and adaptable to change. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Comfortable leading initiatives and accountable as a team member.
