Our client is seeking an experienced
Director of Purchasing
to oversee and manage all procurement activities across their portfolio of
18 skilled nursing facilities in Virginia . This role is responsible for ensuring that all purchasing decisions across clinical, dietary, maintenance, administrative, and ancillary departments are
cost-effective, compliant, and aligned with established Per Patient Day (PPD) budgets .
The Director of Purchasing will play a critical role in driving standardization, strengthening vendor partnerships, implementing purchasing systems and controls, and ensuring financial discipline across all facilities.
Responsibilities :
Procurement & Cost Management
Oversee all purchasing and procurement activities across all departments and facilities. Ensure purchasing remains within approved PPD budgets by department and facility. Analyze purchasing trends and identify opportunities for cost savings, standardization, and efficiencies. Vendor & Contract Management
Manage all vendor relationships, including sourcing, onboarding, and ongoing performance evaluation. Lead contract negotiations, pricing reviews, and renewals to ensure best value and favorable terms. Oversee all equipment leases, including medical equipment, IT, copiers, and other leased assets. Systems & Controls
Implement and maintain a centralized purchasing system to support standardized ordering, tracking, and reporting. Design and enforce approval workflows to ensure all purchases are properly reviewed and authorized prior to commitment. Establish purchasing policies and procedures that align with operational and financial controls. Facility & Department Coordination
Oversee and support facility-level staff responsible for submitting purchasing requests. Provide guidance and training to ensure requests are appropriate, justified, and aligned with budgetary goals. Serve as a central point of contact between corporate leadership and facility teams for purchasing matters. Accounts Payable & Financial Oversight
Work closely with the Accounts Payable (AP) team to: Verify pricing accuracy Prevent overbilling or duplicate charges Resolve vendor discrepancies and disputes Assist in monitoring vendor invoices to ensure compliance with contracted rates and terms. Qualifications :
Proven experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably in healthcare or skilled nursing. Strong understanding of PPD budgeting, cost controls, and multi-facility operations. Experience negotiating vendor contracts and equipment leases. Familiarity with purchasing systems and approval workflow tools. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work cross-functionally with finance, operations, clinical leadership, and facility staff. What they Offer
