What Success Looks Like In This Job Provide customer service to the public and county staff regarding the policies and procedures of the Personal Property department within the Assessor’s Office in person, by phone or electronically. Answer questions with scope of authority and refer inquiries to the property source. Responsibilities

Assist Personal Property Department with any administrative needs within County guidelines. Type routine correspondence, make copies, and file various documents and forms. Process mail as required. Answer phones and route calls appropriately. Search computer files, maps, records, and other sources to obtain information requested by public or staff. Create new accounts accurately with pertinent information which will be posted on the County’s website and will be available to the public for viewing. Maintain and update filing system on businesses located within the County. Assign and distribute tax numbers to new business. Supervisory Responsibilities

Understand and follow the County's policies and procedures. Communicate effectively with customers both verbally and in writing. Exhibit patience and understanding when serving customers. Establish, maintain, and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Handle fast paced work environment in a quiet and professional manner and commit to working overtime (comp time) when necessary. Acquire, update and organize information and ensure accuracy. Operate standard office equipment such as computers, copiers, fax machines, and telephone systems. Computer Skills: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software, especially Word and Excel. Education and Training

One (1) year of clerical or customer service experience required. One (1) year of experience in an Assessor's office is preferred but not required. High school diploma or GED equivalent, including specialized training and college courses. Required to attend and pass Introduction to Assessment as scheduled by the Assessor. Required to attend and pass Personal Property I as scheduled by the Assessor. License or Certificate

Essential duties require the following physical abilities and work environment: Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Ability to lift 10 pounds on occasion.
