Full-time, Non-Exempt The Peace Center is a major nonprofit performing arts center serving a growing and sophisticated audience in Greenville, South Carolina. It is the dominant performing arts center in the State and region. Built on a six-acre campus with an aesthetic mix of new architecture and historic buildings, the campus is at the hub of Greenville’s nationally recognized downtown. The Peace Center venues include the 2,115-seat Peace Concert Hall, the 400-seat Gunter Theatre, the 1,400-capacity outdoor Peace Pavilion, Genevieve’s Lounge, and the Huguenot Mill which includes two event spaces: the Ramsaur Studio and the Huguenot Loft. In January of 2026, the Peace Center opened two additional music venues, the Mockingbird (a listening room) and the Coach Factory (a flat floor club), in addition to a studio space used primarily for education and outreach programming. The Peace Center’s Community Engagement initiatives seek to tell stories, amplify voices, educate and inspire through the arts. Our aim in community engagement is to create a more inclusive Peace Center by partnering with organizations to increase accessibility to programming, to represent the vast diversity of our community, and to be a welcoming space for all to experience performing arts.
Position Summary
The Manager of Arts Education and Community Engagement plays a pivotal role in shaping vibrant, engaging programs that align with our organization’s mission and strategic goals. This full-time position drives the development and delivery of school-based and on-site arts initiatives—impacting thousands of students and educators through experiences in the performing, literary, and science arts. The Manager leads administrative coordination, cultivates relationships with schools and community partners, and ensures programs are inclusive, inspiring, and impactful. From managing logistics to evaluating outcomes, this role requires a strong communicator who thrives in collaboration, is detail-oriented, and is committed to expanding access to the arts. Success in this role means strengthening community connections, fostering creative learning, and amplifying the reach of the Peace Center’s arts education and community engagement efforts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES (Include, But Are Not Limited To)
Assist staff in carrying out the Arts Education and Community Engagement department’s programs and projects. Provide assistance and administrative support in planning and executing a diversity of programs including workshops, masterclasses, camps, artist residencies, and performances. Prepare and distribute corresponding resources and materials as needed. Cultivate relationships with schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders and strengthen relationships with existing partners. Create and implement strategies to increase arts access for underrepresented populations. Assist with the submission, tracking, assessment, and record keeping of both program impact and expenses and maintain database, records, correspondence, evaluations, and files. Support senior staff to ensure that department goals are met and adhere to approved budgets. Demonstrate positive interpersonal relations in dealing with all members of the team. Coordinate logistical information and documentation in the organization’s master calendar. Assist with logistical arrangements for meetings, workshops, and events including scheduling, set-up, catering, and distribution of printed materials. Communicate with artists, agents, managers, students, teachers, and school coordinators as needed. Travel to schools and perform programming duties. Sometimes this will include serving as a stage manager and/or assisting visiting and teaching artists in executing classroom activities. Process and arrange contracts, payments, travel, and transportation for artists as needed. Conduct research as needed. Perform other duties as assigned and deemed necessary to the position.
Minimum Qualifications
College degree required. Degree in arts administration, education, or a performing arts field preferred. Minimum 4 years’ experience in an administrative role at an educational or community organization. Experience in arts management and/or arts education and a strong understanding of arts education, community engagement, and the importance of arts access in youth development is preferred. Possess strong time management and prioritization skills, and ability to multitask in a deadline-oriented environment. Ability to work on a team and establish cooperative working relationships. Ability to work occasional nights and weekends, as needed based on department programming. Ability to travel to off-site locations, as needed based on department programming. Possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Highly organized with attention to detail and strong record-keeping ability. Skill in using personal computers and a variety of software applications, including Microsoft Suite.
