Position Overview The LINK team is looking for a collaborative, organized, and adaptable Communications Specialist to join our team. This position provides the opportunity to serve as the key communications and outreach consultant on a diverse range of projects, each with varying roles and responsibilities.

This role will work closely with project teams, clients, sub-consultants, and the LINK internal team to ensure public involvement and community relations plans are thoughtfully implemented and aligned. This role is ideal for a strong communicator who enjoys relationship-building, interacting with a variety of internal and external audiences, and contributing to meaningful projects that impact communities.

The position is full-time, though we are open to discussing a part-time option as a potential solution for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and support communication plans and community engagement efforts for a variety of projects

Research, identify, and interact with project stakeholders

Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including: Public officials, community-based organizations, interest groups, property owners and businesses affected by or interested in projects

Coordinate and participate in project meetings and prepare agendas, meeting minutes, and summary notes

Develop project support materials, including: brochures and handouts, fact sheets, media alerts, news releases, and other supporting documents for the public and/or media

Research and write clear, compelling content for a variety of communication channels and project materials

Coordinate with sub-consultants and vendors to support project objectives

Coordinate outreach efforts, including press events, project announcements, and public information campaigns

Serve as liaison between projects and the community

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field

5+ years of experience in communications, public relations, community engagement or related fields

Recent experience in communications and/or public involvement preferred

Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a team environment

Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communications skills

Strong ability to interact professionally and effectively with diverse audiences, including public officials, property owners, business owners, clients, and construction contractors

Technical Skills

Familiarity with Microsoft Office products

Experience using Adobe InDesign and other Adobe programs

Comfortable working in Google Drive and collaborative digital environments

Hybrid working model with the option to work from home for a portion of required hours

Flexible schedule required, as some projects may involve evening and/or weekend work
