Role

The primary role of the Interior Designer is to interpret and translate the needs and desires of a client as well as any architectural direction set forth into cohesive interior design solutions. This may involve production of drawings (2D/3D) and written material to support the conceptual direction of interior design and FFE. The individual will present ideas in formal and informal settings and respond to constructive feedback. An Interior Designer is expected to work collaboratively with the architectural team, conceptualizing, developing, and documenting interior design aspects of a project, including space planning, interior architecture, interior materials and palette, specifications and FFE.

Your Key Responsibilities

Interprets sketches, drawings, codes, program, and other material. Supports project team in the development of interior design documentation and presentation materials. Assists in the development of a design through sketches, physical models, electronic models, diagrams, massing studies, and other visual formats. Utilizes BIM technologies in the development of three-dimensional models of buildings and their components. Participates in design critiques and pin-ups. Assists in research of concept, benchmarks, materials, typology, and precedents. Assists in material and furniture selections, space planning and communication with product representatives. Ability to work with a team in the documentation of a construction set.

Qualifications

Solid and proven experience in Revit and the use of it as a design tool. Experience with the most recent design software (SketchUp, Rhino, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.) is preferred. Experience with design equipment (3D printer, laser cutter, etc.) is preferred. Ability to hand sketch and communicate concepts and ideas to others effectively. Participation and collaboration in project team settings. Ability to engage in creative and critical thought. Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, program and other similar material. Ability to communicate abstract ideas (verbal/written/graphic). Ability to conduct space planning, block planning and adjacencies in coordination with design program. Basic understanding of lighting/fixtures. Basic understanding of FFE and specifications. Basic understanding of client's expectations of deliverables at different project phases including construction documents. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Newforma preferred.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a CIDA-accredited Interior Design program or related field is required. Interior Design License preferred. Minimum of five years of experience is preferred.

About the Team

Pay Transparency:

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week. Benefits Summary:
