
Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced
Instructional Designer
to design and develop high-quality learning solutions supporting emergency management and simulation-based training programs. This role collaborates closely with developers, project managers, subject matter experts (SMEs), and UI/UX teams to translate complex technical and operational information into clear, engaging, and effective learning experiences. Target start date: March 1, 2026
Responsibilities
Design and develop instructional content and curriculum aligned with the
ADDIE learning model
Create learning solutions supporting
emergency management simulation development.
Develop a comprehensive suite of
job aids and performance support materials.
Create and maintain content for the
Coast Guard Proficiency Library
Design and deliver
seven (7) formal virtual training modules
Ensure all instructional materials align with
Incident Command System (ICS)
standards
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure instructional accuracy, usability, and learner engagement
Translate highly technical information into accessible, learner-centered training materials
Participate in weekly reviews of work completed with goals and milestones in mind.
Required Qualifications
Proven experience as an
Instructional Designer
Mandatory experience using the ADDIE instructional design model
Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively
Experience working collaboratively with developers, PMs, SMEs, and UI/UX teams
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting
DHS, U.S. Coast Guard, or Emergency Management organizations
Familiarity with
ICS frameworks and standards
Experience designing instructional content for
software or simulation-based systems
Travel Requirements
Occasional travel to customer sites as needed
