Class Title: Senior Public Health Nutritionist Supervisor

Salary: $61,100 - $65,000 annually

Location: Florida Department of Health in Seminole County, 400 W. Airport Blvd, Sanford, FL 32773

This position is a full-time, in-office position.

Responsibilities

Functions as site supervisor of the Casselberry and Sanford locations and reports to the Public Health Nutrition Program Manager.

Supervises all Casselberry and Sanford nutrition staff; plans and monitors workloads; conducts annual and mid-term performance evaluations; writes and communicates performance standards; approves timesheets, EARs, and leave requests; maintains up-to-date Position Descriptions; participates in recruitment, hiring and training; administers disciplinary actions as appropriate.

Reviews staff work assignments to ensure timely and appropriate services to clients per WIC guidelines; conducts yearly VENA observations and monthly QA audits; serves as backup liaison for WIC sites; coordinates training.

Maintains professional communication with DOH-Seminole Administrators, Managers, Supervisors and State Office WIC staff; serves as nutrition and dietetics consultant; participates in inter-disciplinary committees.

Coordinates with building contacts to ensure opening/closing of the facility and timely handling of facility issues; handles customer service concerns for Casselberry and Sanford clients promptly.

Oversees the Direct Distribution Formula process between nutritionist and providers; ensures forms are accurate and distributed; completes Over Issuance and monthly tracking reports; completes various other monthly/bi-weekly QA and reporting requirements.

Certifies eligible clients into the WIC Program; provides nutrition counseling and referrals; evaluates clinical and anthropometric data; ensures accuracy of WIC certifications and other nutrition contacts; leads group nutrition education classes; documents counseling notes and care plans; issues EBT benefits when appropriate; promotes breastfeeding and liaises among nutrition, clerical and breastfeeding staff.

Coordinates and supervises nutrition module training of new WIC staff; assists in planning and revising the WIC education plan; selects education materials; ensures staff participation in outreach; may present on nutrition topics; maintains action plans and quarterly updates with program management.

Completes required daily/weekly/monthly administrative tasks (EAR, attendance, leave, timekeeping, travel logs) by deadlines; attends and may lead staff meetings, conferences, trainings and town halls.

Performs other duties as assigned to support the mission of DOH-Seminole.

Qualifications

Must be licensed dietitian/nutritionist in the state of Florida.

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university with a major in dietetics or food and nutrition related subject is required.

Emergency/duties: This position requires working before, during, and/or beyond normal hours in the event of an emergency.

This position is full-time and in-office; ability to come to the office to perform duties is expected.

Preferred: Verifiable experience developing and implementing nutrition plans based on client assessments.

Preferred: Verifiable experience consulting with physicians and healthcare personnel to determine client needs.
