This is a sales & acquisition position in brokerage: 80-90% of your time will be dedicated to proactive cold calling, outbound prospecting, and developing your personal client book. Sales Trader

to join our high-performing team in New York. In this role, your primary focus will be:

As a Sales Trader at AFS Commodities, you will work at the crossroads of sustainability and financial markets. Your objective: create value for clients in environmental commodity markets while building a profitable, forward-thinking trading portfolio. Your core daily responsibilities include: Client Acquisition & Relationship Management

Proactively develop and nurture long-term, high-quality relationships with corporates, utilities, project developers, and counterparties across North America and internationally. Market Making & Trade Execution

Provide quotes, structure deals, negotiate terms, and execute transactions in environmental commodities (RECs, carbon credits, RNG and related instruments). Spot and exploit arbitrage and liquidity opportunities. Revenue Generation & Strategic Development

Grow revenue through focused outreach, in-depth market knowledge, and innovative deal structuring — always aligning your trading approach with AFS’s overall commercial strategy. Market Monitoring & Strategic Positioning

Keep ahead of regulatory changes, evolving buyer needs, and supply-side shifts in both compliance and voluntary environmental markets. Cross-Team Collaboration

Work closely with analysts, operations, and risk/KYC teams to ensure seamless trade execution and exceptional client experience. Job Requirements

A commercially minded professional who combines real passion for the market with strong execution capabilities: 2+ years of experience in sales, trading, or brokerage — ideally within environmental commodities (RECs, carbon, fuels, RNG, etc.) Native or fully fluent English; Spanish is a strong advantage Solid knowledge of environmental commodity markets and the main drivers of sustainability (direct exposure to voluntary and/or compliance markets highly preferred) Proven commercial drive and a successful history of building and monetizing client relationships Analytical mindset combined with a disciplined, structured approach to trading Outstanding communication and negotiation skills; confident and credible when dealing with clients and senior executives Entrepreneurial mindset and high energy to succeed in a fast-moving, transaction-heavy environment Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Environmental Science, or a related discipline What we offer
