Western Mass News has a unique opportunity for a Producer looking to break into the broadcast industry. This hybrid position will allow you to hone your content-producing skills while also producing an award-winning newscast. The candidate who is hired for this position will serve as our Weekend Morning News Producer and work as a Content Producer on our assignment desk during the week. Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Produce daily newscast Conceptualize newscast rundown Collaborate with Executive Producer, field crews, and assignment desk to determine content of newscast Write scripts Research stories Pitch story ideas Participate in editorial meetings Preview material before air Work with reporters and directors on innovative production elements Incorporate and coordinate breaking news Work to constantly improve and evolve the look and execution of newscasts Execute the show from the control room Meet all show timing requirements For Content Producer: Gather meaningful news information from various sources Generate story ideas Discern credible news tips Schedule news crews and take in live feeds Create content that is aligned with and enhances the station brand Publish content on multiple digital platforms, including mobile, online, and social networks This person should have solid news judgment, a sound grasp of online journalism, and a sense of urgency for breaking news.
