Job Summary

Camp Invention is a week long, hands-on science experience for elementary students. Campers participate in a series of exciting classes, each of which is centered around a theme and builds upon the previous day\'s activities. A maximum of 110 students can participate. One additional hour each day and one day the previous week is required for set-up. Some additional time beyond the school day, from now until the start of camp, is required to plan and organize the camp during the school year. Week of Camp Invention is June 15-19. Job Responsibilities

Market the program to elementary school parents, students and staff Interview/Select teachers and counselors for the program Serve as a liaison with parents and children, camp staff, school and regional coordinator Solve general problems, including disciplinary issues Set the tone for Camp – fun! Provide site coordination, including Supervising registration Coordinating Base Camp Providing orientation for teachers and counselors Supervising Lunch Coordinating end of program activities Purchase snacks and extra materials Setting up and breaking down camp Attending orientation session Qualifications

Valid Michigan elementary teaching certificate Ability to plan and implement a creative and organized summer program Ability to communicate effectively and generate community interest in the program Ability to work well with students, staff, and parents. Working Conditions
