The Township of Pine, located in Wexford, is seeking a
Recruiting and Retention Coordinator
to collaborate with Pine Township (Township) Public Safety Department and Wexford Volunteer Fire Company (WVFC) in developing and managing recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and retention programs. This role will work closely with WVFC and Township leadership to attract and support volunteer members through targeted outreach, effective onboarding, and ongoing engagement initiatives. This position will also coordinate grant applications, compliance, administrative processes and operational sustainability with the WVFC. Responsibilities will require initiative, organization, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accurate records and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Hours:
Part Time, up to 28 hours weekly
Pay : $20.00 per hour
Schedule:
Flexible, On-Site, Monday - Friday with occasional weekend/evening/night.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies for WVFC and emergency services volunteers
Serve as the primary contact for prospective and new members, coordinating onboarding, documentation, and integration
Coordinate background checks, clearances, screenings, and onboarding requirements
Maintain accurate membership, participation, and compliance records
Track member service hours, attendance, and eligibility for incentives or benefits
Coordinate and administer grants, reporting, reimbursements, and compliance documentation
Prepare applications for applicable tax abatements, incentive, or benefit programs
Support community outreach, marketing, and public engagement efforts
Provide administrative support related to procurement, workers' compensation, and injury reporting
Collaborate with WVFC leadership and Department of Public Safety staff to support workforce development and organizational readiness
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
Associate degree in a related emergency services field (Fire Science, Emergency Management, EMS Management) and a minimum of three (3) years of experience associated with fire or public safety operations, including at least one (1) year of experience related to recruitment and retention efforts; OR
An equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
Firefighter I Certificate
Obtain Firefighter II Certificate within one (1) year from hire date or job transfer
Obtain Fire Officer I Certificate within two (2) years from hire date or job transfer
Emergency Vehicle Operator Training Certificate (EVOC)
Pennsylvania Department of Health Basic Vehicle Rescue or NFPA 1006 Common Passenger Vehicle Rescue Technician (Pro Board)
Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
Valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License
Preferred
Bachelor's Degree in emergency services or related field
Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician Advanced (EMT-A) or Paramedic
Knowledge of fire apparatus, emergency equipment, or facility system
Experience with a public organization, volunteer fire department, or public safety environment
Experience with grant administration and public-sector compliance processes
