Job description:

The Judicial Branch's Commission on Official Legal Publications (COLP) is seeking a

Content Management / Publication expert who can work on the design, composition,

and development of both print and digital products.

COLP currently uses print publication software called Miles 33. Miles 33 is an

XML/SGML editing system that has the functionality to paginate, layout, and publish

print publications as well as information on the web. This very robust system holds

extensive formatting structures such as cascading sheets, galleys, and pagination rules,

many of which differ based on our varying publications. However, it does lack an

essential functionality for producing ADA-compliant web publications. We are

looking to migrate to a new process that will accommodate ADA-compliant web

publications utilizing industry-standard Microsoft Word and Adobe Suite (InDesign &

Dream Weaver)

Scope of Services

The ideal candidate will be able to contribute immediately to the following areas: • Assist with efforts to migrate from Legacy Miles33 to publishing using industry-

standard Microsoft Word & Adobe InDesign. • Assist with modernizing Print and online (Web) publishing Standards. • Assist in the formulation of tactical and strategic plans. • Assist to reconcile current business requirements and modernize information

technology standards.

Minimum Qualifications

In addition to the standard skills and experience for the job class, the ideal candidate

should possess the following qualifications:

Technical Competencies: • Knowledge of publishing - print and online (book/eBook publishing, posters,

flyers, brochures), • Familiarity with Design and Layout principles • Proficiency using Adobe Creative Suite (particularly InDesign) required. • Proficiency using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel) required. • Familiarity and ability to work with PC environments required, • Familiarity with Mac is preferred but not mandated. • Strong awareness of current marketplace challenges and trends • Familiarity with ADA standards for Web content • Strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize, and outstanding organizational skills • Excellent written communication skills • Knowledge of XML, HTML (5), CSS (3), and ebook principles a plus • Ability to adapt to management direction in a dynamic environment by taking

initiative and follow-ups.

Additional Skills that are considered beneficial: • Familiarity with Azure Dev Ops • Experience in Production Support activities.

General Experience: • Minimum ten (10) years of experience in design, development, unit testing, and

solving complex engineering problems
