Job Description

Patrick & Henry Community College is a comprehensive two-year institution committed to student success, lifelong learning, and enrichment of the quality of life in the region it serves. Serving Martinsville, Henry County, Patrick County, and the southern portion of Franklin County, P&HCC is a comprehensive open-door institution, accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the associate degree. Patrick & Henry offers 29 associate degree programs, 12 certificate programs and 38 career studies certificate programs. The college also delivers a variety of nontraditional programs such as customized workforce development training, industry-recognized certifications, developmental and transitional programs, and courses for personal enrichment.

Purpose of Position: Assist public relations and marketing efforts to ensure quality materials and engagement for internal and external stakeholders; document college events; share positive messaging about the college with the public.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications Demonstrated experience with public relations and/or journalism. Communicates effectively orally and in writing; works with individuals of diverse backgrounds; and establishes positive working relationships with external and internal constituents. Ability to independently perform research, analyze, and compile information in a form appropriate to the medium required. Ability to write compelling, concise copy that summarizes and promotes the culture, programs, people & events of the college. Understanding of different social media platforms and the appropriate usage. Ability to communicate through multiple social media channels or a regular basis. Ability to perform necessary tasks independently or with minimum supervision. Must effectively demonstrate attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and an ability to handle multiple tasks, deadlines and changing priorities with good judgment. Skill in spearheading marketing campaigns designed to increase web referrals, engagement and audience growth. Intermediate level computer skills and ability to utilize Photoshop and InDesign programs. Education, training, and/or work experience equivalent to an Associate Degree in PR and/or Marketing, graphic design, or related area that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.

This portfolio should include items produced in Photoshop, InDesign, on social media, and should demonstrate a range of professional publications.
