Dechert LLP seeks an experienced Managing Clerk to lead the Managing Clerk's Office and support our Litigation practice groups. The Managing Clerk will provide guidance to multiple practice groups and attorneys on court rules procedural issues and strategies across federal, and local courts to our New York and other offices. The Managing Clerk will ensure precise, efficient filings, calendaring (primarily for the New York Office), and court operations supporting our New York and other offices. This role is based in New York and will require periodic extended hours, including late-night filings.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

Lead the Managing Clerk's Office: staffing, workflow, quality control, training/mentoring, and coverage; serve as the primary escalation point. Oversee and execute e-filings in PACER/NextGen CM/ECF, NYSCEF, EDDS, and various File&Serve platforms; coordinate appellate filings and work with printing vendors. Administer Milana: case intake, docketing, and calendaring; set and enforce protocols and audits to ensure accuracy. Process and review incoming/outgoing filings for procedural and format compliance; manage service via hand-service vendors, e-service. Research and monitor court rules, judges' practices, and dockets using PACER, Bloomberg Law, eTrack, DocketBird; track NY and federal rule updates and implement process changes. Advise attorneys and staff on filing strategy, timing, reserved hearing dates, courtesy-copy requirements, and risk mitigation across time zones. Liaise with court personnel in NY and other jurisdictions; communicate with attorneys, paralegals, co-counsel, and clients. Manage attorney admissions/registrations (federal/NY as needed) and NextGen/MFA account linking; maintain related firm records. Partner with IT and vendors on docketing technology, templates, checklists, and metrics; drive continuous improvement and issue resolution. Provide hands-on coverage for urgent, after-hours, and late-night filings to meet various jurisdictional deadlines; handle local New York court runs as needed. Other responsibilities as needed. QUALIFICATIONS:

7+ years in a Managing Clerk's Office with substantial supervisory/lead experience. Expert knowledge of federal and New York procedures and filing/service requirements for PACER and NYSCEF systems. Mastery of e-filing and service platforms: PACER/NextGen CM/ECF, NYSCEF, EDDS, Odyssey, File&ServeXpress; familiarity with e-service vendors such as One Legal. Proven ability to exercise sound judgment under pressure, prioritize competing deadlines, and work with minimal direction. Exceptional organization, attention to detail, proofreading, and research skills. Strong written and verbal communication; collaborative and client-focused. Proficiency with Milana (or similar docketing/diary tools), Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), and iManage. Education

Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and extensive Managing Clerk/litigation experience considered. Additional Details

Exempt position; requires periodic after-hours, late-night, and non-Eastern Time coverage (including West Coast deadlines) during peak filing periods. Based in New York; local travel to New York courts as needed.

Additional Job Description

At the time of this posting, the salary range for this position in New York is between $148,000.00 - $185,000.00 annually. Actual compensation is commensurate with job related knowledge, skills, experience, and location of the position.
