Bookkeeper

Performs a variety of bookkeeping work consistent with the needs of the assigned department. Sorts and posts by hand and computer various accounting items to appropriate files, reports and journals. Makes and verifies entries, prepares financial statements and schedules, prepares vouchers, claims, payrolls, correspondence and supporting data for accuracy and conformance with regulations. Reconciles accounts payable and accounts receivable work as assigned. May maintain attendance records in manual and/or electronic format. Reviews and prepares timecards, time sheets and overtime rosters as assigned. Generates and distributes reports as required. Proofreads reports and other documents and performs related complex clerical work, some of which may be of a confidential nature requiring a high degree of responsibility and independent judgment. Manages and files correspondence. Performs related work as required. Considerable knowledge of the principles of bookkeeping and accounting. Considerable knowledge of modern office procedures and practices. Considerable knowledge of and skill in the operation of computers and related software and standard office equipment. Good ability to make arithmetical calculations with speed and accuracy. Good ability to understand complex written and oral instructions. Good ability to analyze work problems and make decisions. Good ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, vendors and the general public. Experience and training: Graduation from high school, business school or equivalent. Three (3) years of experience in office work, involving computers and the principles of accounting and bookkeeping or an equivalent combination of experience and training. To apply: Please visit
