VCU's Facilities Management Department is seeking a
Director of Financial Services .
Responsibilities
Supervise a well-trained competent staff which ensures conformance to generally accepted accounting standards and other State and University accounting practices.
Coordinate the development of significant reports and plans:
Six-Year Capital Plan: Create the State-funded first biennium projects in the DPB Performance Budgeting model. Update as needed.
Maintenance Reserve Reporting
Financial Feasibility Study preparation support and various ad hoc reports by eliciting cooperation and teamwork from individuals internal and external to the University
Coordinates the Division's request for operating funds to support new and renovated facilities, central utilities, and divisional initiatives
Through staff, the incumbent monitors and maintains the division budget, provides reports summarizing revenues and expenditures and makes adjustments as necessary.
Coordinate with auxiliary funded business units to ensure the seamless billing of FMD services.
Develop shop rates for the various FMD self funding units
Coordinate with the City of Richmond as it relates to utility billings.
The successful candidate will possess a blend of expert financial knowledge, sophisticated analytical skills, and proven leadership abilities within a large, complex organizational environment, preferably in higher education or government. The candidate must be collaborative and possess superior communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Finances, Business Administration, or a closely related field
Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in financial management, accounting, or budgeting
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a direct supervisory or managerial role, leading and developing a financial or accounting team.
Demonstrated expertise in capital budgeting, financial planning, and operational budget management.
Proven knowledge and experience ensuring conformance to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and institutional/state accounting practices.
Proficiency with the Banner enterprise-level financial management systems (ERP) and advanced proficiency in data analysis and financial modeling using spreadsheet software (e.g. Excel)
Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications Salary Range:$150,000 - $180,000
