SENIOR CLAIMS SPECIALIST, E&O, D&O | PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Analyze and process complex liability claims by conducting thorough investigations to determine exposure and manage claims towards timely resolution. Conduct or assign investigations and provide detailed reports on new claims and legal actions. Negotiate claim settlements within your designated authority level. Calculate and assign timely reserves, ensuring monitoring throughout the lifecycle of each claim. Recommend effective settlement strategies and propose structured settlements to achieve optimal resolutions. Perform coverage analysis and issue opinions during the claims process, accompanied by necessary correspondence. Coordinate legal defense efforts, including attorney assignments and invoice reviews to ensure compliance with client guidelines. Implement cost containment techniques and collaborate with strategic vendors to reduce overall claims costs. Identify opportunities for fraud investigation, subrogation, contribution, and recovery to minimize claim expenses. Represent the company during depositions, mediations, and trials as required. Maintain open communication with clients regarding claim activities and processing, fostering professional relationships. Ensure accurate documentation of claim files and appropriate claims coding. Refer cases to management when necessary. Delegate tasks and mentor junior colleagues. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Perform other duties as assigned. Travel as necessary. QUALIFICATIONS Education & Licensing A Master's degree or Juris Doctorate from an accredited institution is preferred. Relevant licenses and designations such as Associate in Claims (AIC) or Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) are also advantageous. Experience A minimum of ten (10) years in complex claims management or a related educational background is required. Skills & Knowledge Expert knowledge of medical malpractice insurance principles and laws applicable to this field. Extensive understanding of insurance coverage. Specialty in medical malpractice, errors and omissions, directors and officers liability, life sciences, or cyber liability. Strong oral and written communication abilities, including presentation skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other PC applications. Analytical thinking and interpretative skills. Exceptional organizational skills and negotiation capabilities. Strong interpersonal abilities and capability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
