
Overview
daPoint O’Pines Camp for Girls is located on a private peninsula on Brant Lake in the Adirondack Mountains of New York. Our goal is to give girls the best summer ever. We help them build confidence and make friends in a safe, fun place.
Responsibilities
Oversee all waterfront activities, including swimming, boating, sailing, and water skiing.
Help train, supervise, support, and evaluate all lifeguards and waterfront staff.
Enforce safety protocols in line with American Red Cross and camp standards.
Assist with emergency procedures, drills, and incident response.
Provide active supervision and positive engagement with campers.
Conduct daily safety checks of waterfront areas and equipment.
Monitor weather and water conditions for camper safety.
Serve as acting Waterfront Director when needed.
Participate in camp-wide events, evening activities, and assist in other camp areas as needed.
Support camp operations with additional duties as assigned by Camp Directors.
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain active and maintain a high level of energy for extended periods, including walking, running, standing, and participating in physical activities.
Capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds for tasks such as moving supplies, setting up activities, or assisting campers.
Stamina and agility to respond quickly to emergencies or situations requiring immediate attention or intervening in high-energy activities.
Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, and rain.
Qualifications
Must be at least 21 years old
Must be available for the full camp season: Early June – August
Current certifications in Lifeguarding & First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Lifeguard Management, and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) (or willing to obtain prior to the camp season).
Prior experience managing waterfront activities in a camp or similar setting
Strong leadership and communication skills
Ability to train and supervise staff effectively
Knowledge of boating, water skiing, and other aquatic programs
Familiarity with American Red Cross or equivalent water safety standards
Accommodation and meals included throughout duration.
