Overview

Comac Medical is expanding its U.S. commercial presence and is seeking a Business Development Director to drive revenue growth across the North American market. This role is a senior, individual-contributor position with high visibility and direct impact on company growth, focused primarily on biotech and mid-size pharmaceutical clients.

The ideal candidate is a hunter-style sales leader with a strong CRO background, deep industry relationships, and a proven ability to close complex clinical research deals.

Responsibilities

What is expected to be done?

  • Own and drive new business development across the U.S. market, with a focus on biotech and specialty pharma;
  • Build and execute a strategic sales plan to meet and exceed annual revenue targets;
  • Identify, qualify, and close clinical research opportunities across Phase I–IV services;
  • Develop strong, trusted relationships with C-level executives, clinical leaders, and procurement teams;
  • Lead the full sales cycle - from prospecting and client meetings to proposal development, negotiation, and contract close;
  • Collaborate closely with operations, proposals, and scientific teams to deliver competitive, client-focused solutions;
  • Represent Comac Medical at industry conferences, partnering events, and key client meetings;
  • Track market trends, competitive intelligence, and client needs to support commercial strategy;

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Business, or related field (advanced degree preferred);
  • 7–10+ years of business development experience in a CRO, clinical research, or life sciences services;
  • Demonstrated success closing mid- to large-value CRO deals in the U.S. market;
  • Strong existing network within biotech/pharma, ideally within the Boston/Cambridge ecosystem;
  • Solid understanding of clinical development, regulatory pathways, and CRO service models;
  • Self-driven, results-oriented mindset with strong negotiation and presentation skills;
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with global delivery teams;
