Duties and Responsibilities
General Responsibilities
- Operational Oversight: Provide direct oversight to specific IT strategic operational framework, ensuring efficient and effective operation.
- Departmental Impact: Influence cross-functional operations through strategic planning, cross-functional collaboration, and direct leadership.
- Budget Management: Manage mid to large-sized budgets for assigned programs, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with organizational goals.
- Tactical Planning: Participate in cross-functional tactical planning, contributing to the achievement of strategic objectives and goals.
- Knowledge and Understanding: Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of specific IT domains, with some cross-functional understanding to support broader organizational needs.
- Communication: Maintain regular communication with business leaders, peers, and ITS Leadership to foster collaboration, alignment, and information sharing.
Position Specific Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the PMO strategy aligned with the university’s IT and institutional goals.
- Enhance the governance frameworks for project intake, prioritization, and execution.
- Lead portfolio management to ensure alignment with strategic initiatives and resource capacity. Oversee budget planning and financial tracking for the PMO and its projects.
- Optimize resource allocation across competing priorities and initiatives.
- Deep understanding of IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, networking, and cloud technologies.
- Define and enforce project management standards, tools, and templates.
- Drive continuous improvement in project delivery processes and PMO maturity.
- Implement and maintain project management software changes and dashboards for transparency and tracking.
- Manage and mentor PMO staff, including project managers, analysts, and coordinators.
- Foster collaboration across academic departments, administrative units, and external vendors.
- Execute duties and tasks as assigned.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field is required. A master’s degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 12 years of experience managing large-scale transformation portfolios/programs/projects in Information Technology and/or business units.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field is required. A master’s degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 12 years of experience managing large-scale transformation portfolios/programs/projects in Information Technology and/or business units.
- Proven track record of success with managing multiple simultaneous programs and/or projects with a duration of 12+ months and advising project management team members of 6-25 people working in various modalities.
- Industry Certifications (PMP, PgMP, PMI-ACP, CAPM, CSM, Agile certifications, etc.), or willingness to obtain them, are strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to translate technical details into easily understandable verbiage for stakeholders and executive sponsors.
- Knowledge of SDLC, project management methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid processes, and best practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively across various departments and teams.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Experience in Higher Education is a plus, but not required.
Certificates/Credentials/Licenses
Computer Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Applications (Project, Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with project management methodologies including the Agile Development Framework and Project Management Institute’s project management lifecycle and PMBOK.

Compensation
Position Maximum Salary or Hourly Rate: $186,368
Position Minimum Salary or Hourly Rate: $148,446/annually
