
Overview
The Ideker Laboratory at UC San Diego is recruiting a Director of BioMachine Learning (BioML) to lead machine learning research and development for the "Dynamic Digital Tumors for Precision Oncology" project, a new precision cancer therapy initiative funded by the ARPA-H ADAPT Program. The project aims to use advanced AI/ML technologies to deliver the right therapy to the right patients at the right time, applying predictive biomarkers and interpretable AI/ML to create dynamical cancer treatment strategies and personalized therapies for patients with metastatic cancers. This role will oversee AI/ML research projects and objectives toward the successful completion of the ADAPT program goals.

- Lead machine learning research and development for the Dynamic Digital Tumors for Precision Oncology project.
- Oversee AI/ML research projects and objectives to achieve ADAPT program goals.
- Apply expertise in bioinformatics, systems biology, and cancer biology to develop predictive models and interpretable AI/ML tools.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to advance precision oncology strategies and personalized therapies for metastatic cancers.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to project teams and researchers.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
- 3+ years of relevant work experience.
- Expertise in bioinformatics, machine learning, systems biology, and modern cancer biology.
- Strong project leadership and collaboration skills.
