
Overview
Our client is seeking a skilled
Light-Gauge Steel Truss Designer
to join their growing team. This designer will play a critical role in producing accurate, code-compliant truss and framing designs for commercial, industrial, and multi-family projects. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and proficient with design software used for light-gauge steel systems. This role will be groomed for the design manager role.
Key Responsibilities
Design and detail
CFS trusses and framing systems
for a variety of building types
Interpret architectural and structural drawings to develop efficient design solutions
Use design software to generate accurate layouts and shop drawings
Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and customers to ensure design intent and project requirements are met
Optimize material usage while ensuring structural integrity and code compliance
Revise designs based on customer feedback, engineering input, or field issues
Coordinate with production and installation teams to resolve constructability issues
Qualifications
4+ years of experience in
CFS truss or framing design
(light-gauge steel required)
Proficiency with relevant design and drafting tools
ALPINE software preferred
(e.g.,
FRAMECAD, MWF, Revit, AutoCAD )
Strong knowledge of
IBC ,
ASTM , and other relevant building codes and standards
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Preferred
Bachelors degree (preferred)
Experience working with
multifamily or commercial projects
Familiarity with structural engineering principles as they apply to CFS
