Overview The ideal candidate for a Junior Designer role at Onlinemetals.com is a detail-oriented and curious creative who is excited to design for a fast-paced ecommerce environment. This is a great role for a new graduate/self-starter! They have hands-on experience using Figma to create and iterate on layouts, components, and design systems, and they possess a solid working knowledge of HTML and CSS, allowing them to design with real-world implementation in mind. This candidate understands responsive design, accessibility basics, and how design choices impact usability and conversion. They are eager to learn, comfortable collaborating with developers, marketers, and product teams, and motivated by turning complex product information into clean, intuitive digital experiences.

Responsibilities

Understand project requirements and concepts

Use various techniques to create wireframes, layouts and prototypes

Pitch creative ideas

Collaborate with team members to launch projects

Take on special design tasks (e.g. color correction, print materials)

Use feedback from other designers to improve

Qualifications

Experience with design software (e.g. Figma, Sketch, Marvel, InVision) and graphics editing tools (e.g. Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer, Photoshop, Illustrator)

Proven work experience as a Front-end developer

Familiarity with design techniques (e.g. prototyping), markup languages, browser testing and debugging

Understanding of visual foundations (shape, colors, type, grid and layout)

Understanding of layout aesthetics

Teamwork skills

A keen eye for detail

Time management and multitasking abilities

Creativity skills and problem-solving aptitude

Experience with at least HTML, CSS. JavaScript and jQuery a plus

Knowledge of general processes and practices related to the position

Skilled in verbal/written communication and interpersonal abilities

Ability to take initiative and achieve results

Able to accurately assess, research, and analyze information to make sound decisions

Minimum Requirements

4 Year / Bachelor's Degree

Bachelor's in Design and/or Computer Science or related field

2 - 4 years experience as a designer / developer
