Overview
Cavan Builders is seeking a
seasoned, highly qualified Construction Superintendent
to oversee daily field operations on high-end multifamily residential projects
within New York City . This role is ideal for a superintendent with
7+ years of proven, hands-on NYC construction experience
who can drive schedule, enforce quality, and maintain full control of safety and logistics in an active urban environment. The Superintendent will work closely with the Project Manager, trade partners, and ownership to ensure projects are delivered
on time, on budget, and to top-tier quality standards . Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage all on-site construction activities with a strong field presence. Coordinate daily with engineers, subcontractors, building management, and project stakeholders. Develop short-interval schedules aligned with the master project schedule. Review construction documents for constructability and issue RFIs as needed. Direct all trade subcontractors to ensure timely, high-quality, and safe completion of work. Maintain strict documentation: Procore daily logs, inspection logs, site reports, and material tracking. Conduct all QC/QA inspections and oversee corrective action work. Schedule and manage all required special inspections with accurate log maintenance. Enforce NYC safety standards and maintain a clean, well-organized site. Identify and resolve on-site conflicts or emergencies promptly. Coordinate with building management for work within occupied or sensitive environments. Provide clear, consistent communication across all project team members. Required Qualifications
Applicants who do not meet these requirements will not be considered. Minimum 7+ years of verifiable NYC construction experience
as a Superintendent or similar field leadership role. NYC experience is mandatory — non-NYC project experience does not satisfy this requirement. Demonstrated success delivering
high-end, multifamily residential
projects in NYC. Strong working knowledge of
DOB, FDNY, NYC building codes, and local construction practices . Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP documents accurately. Proficiency with
Procore , MS Office, Bluebeam, and digital documentation workflows. Strong communication skills — verbal, written, and digital — with high attention to detail. Able to lead, motivate, and manage subcontractors and field teams. Must hold
NYC DOB 62-hour SST card . DOB Registered Site Superintendent status is
