Construction Reality Capture & Layout Specialist Role Summary. We are seeking a skilled
Construction Reality Capture & Layout Specialist
to support digital construction and layout initiatives. This position plays a key role in collecting and managing 3D site data, translating field conditions into reliable digital information, and supporting construction layout, fabrication, and BIM coordination efforts. The ideal candidate is comfortable working both on active job sites and in a technical office environment.
Responsibilities
Field Operations
Conduct 3D laser scanning in construction, industrial, and commercial settings.
Capture accurate site data using modern reality capture tools and established workflows.
Set up and confirm site control in coordination with survey and layout personnel.
Ensure scanning equipment and field accessories are properly maintained and ready for use.
Coordinate site access, safety requirements, and scanning schedules with project teams.
Data Processing & Technical Support
Process and register point cloud data using industry-standard software platforms.
Review scan data for accuracy, alignment, and completeness prior to delivery.
Prepare point cloud datasets for use in Autodesk-based design and coordination tools.
Assist with the development of project deliverables such as scan documentation, deviation reports, and model-ready files.
Support integration of point cloud data into Revit and AutoCAD workflows as required.
Organize digital project files and maintain clear documentation standards.
Technology & Process Development
Apply advanced scanning, registration, and verification techniques as projects require.
Support construction layout verification and deviation analysis workflows.
Assist with research, testing, and implementation of emerging technologies, including drones, robotics, automation, and AI-driven tools.
Qualifications
Required Experience & Skills
Strong technical aptitude and ability to adapt to new technologies.
Minimum of two (2) years of practical experience performing laser scanning and point cloud processing.
Experience working with professional-grade reality capture hardware and software.
Understanding of end-to-end scanning workflows from field collection through final deliverables.
Ability to work independently in the field and collaborate effectively with project teams.
Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
Valid driver's license.
Preferred Background
Experience using point cloud data within Autodesk Revit environments.
Background in construction, surveying, or fabrication-focused project delivery.
Familiarity with construction layout practices and total station-based workflows.
