The compensation target range for this role is: $76,500 - $90,000 Job Summary
At Purple, we are building a world-class Market Development team that supports the future growth of the Wholesale division by creating raving fans. The Market Development Specialist (MDS) positions themselves as the expert to maximize revenue growth and grow Purple’s Balance of Share (BOS) by providing stores with the resources and training to sell Purple confidently. Travel to Wholesale partner stores to conduct store visits, train on Purple products, and build relationships with Retail Sales Associates (RSAs) and store leaders. Develop and maintain Purple standards in stores, influencing brand representation, knowledge of sales staff, product merchandising, and profitability for Purple. Strong relationships lead to the MDS being welcomed into stores to train, solve issues, and build capability. The MDS coaches, trains, and sells, and influences store teams to secure the best locations for beds and product accessories. They execute one-to-one and group trainings to ensure RSAs are knowledgeable and actively recommending Purple’s products. They communicate corporate initiatives to stores and share field insights with account teams. They implement engaging sales incentive programs with RSAs to grow BOS, and collaborate with store leadership and internal teams to ensure brand standards and merchandising are met in every store, every time. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Passionate about coaching, training, and selling. Comfortable presenting in front of large groups, including leadership. Sales focused, whether selling a product or an idea. Creative and curious problem solving, while challenging the status quo. Committed to excellence with meticulous detail and accuracy in a fast-paced environment; strong organizational skills and ability to meet schedules and deadlines. Collaborator and team player who anticipates issues and helps develop and implement solutions; able to work with diverse teams and people. Flexible and results-driven; able to manage, adapt, and prioritize multiple work streams under pressure. Clear and thoughtful internal and external communication. Dedicated to Purple’s mission and passionate about improving lives. Required Skills, Education, Experience
2-3 years of experience in indirect customer sales Bachelor’s degree preferred Proven history of developing and implementing market-level sales strategies Excellent verbal and written communication skills Computer/software proficiency (Salesforce, Outlook, Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint); operation of company laptop and tablet Experience developing or facilitating training content is highly preferred Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as needed Ability to travel daily within market; overnight and airline travel required Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation Residence within assigned market or willingness to relocate Satisfactory completion of background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record check If you’re still reading and you check these boxes, we can’t wait to hear from you.
