Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit The Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs is the principal academic officer, reporting to the Chancellor. The office provides academic and administrative leadership in all matters of curriculum and program development, the advancement of teaching, the support of research and other scholarly and creative work in the academic community, and the coordination of the faculty governance system. The Office is also responsible for all academic support units and those services for students that relate to their academic programs, curriculum requirements, and special opportunities. The office has authority in all matters pertaining to the appointment, promotion, and compensation of faculty and professional personnel in the academic divisions of the University, including compliance with the University’s Affirmative Action Plan. The Provost, through Faculty Personnel Services, authorizes personnel administration for approximately 1,200 faculty employees. Additionally, the Provost is responsible for the formulation of the annual and biennial budget requests and the allocation of resources for academic programs and services, as well as planning among the academic divisions of the University.
Position Summary The primary purpose of this position is to support the strategic goals of Faculty Personnel Services (FPS) within the Office of the Provost. The Human Resource Specialist’s fundamental purpose is to administer and provide oversight in the processing of EHRA Faculty positions and employee actions. This includes transactional processing of new hires, salary changes, terminations, etc. The position is also responsible for all EHRA Faculty EPAFs and transactions for appointments, reappointments, promotions, etc.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates None specified.
Preferred Qualifications
Extensive knowledge of and experience with Ellucian Banner HR.
Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Excellent analytical and communication skills, customer service, and attention to detail.
Experience in higher education, preferably within the UNC System.
Knowledge of and prior experience with the policies and regulations that govern faculty personnel actions.
Demonstrated commitment to one’s professional responsibilities.
Ability to think critically and maintain a high standard of confidentiality.

Analyze various payroll and personnel reports and prepare a variety of personnel reports for UNCG’s Board of Trustees and the UNC Office of the President.
Initiation of Faculty Contracts – appointments, reappointments, changes in appointment/salary/title.
