Overview Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent at Mistwood Golf Club is a skilled labor position that will demand full-time hours throughout the year. This position will report directly to the Head Superintendent. Because the maintenance department is responsible for all golf course and facility maintenance, the Assistant Superintendent will have a variety of responsibilities. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Responsibilities

Contributing to the establishment, promotion and protection of the Mistwood brand

Managing, overseeing, training and scheduling seasonal and full-time employees

Maintaining the irrigation system and making repairs as required

Managing small projects throughout the season

Overseeing daily course set-up and scheduling

Administering pesticide / fertilizer applications and necessary record keeping

Acting as a role model for the staff and always portraying a positive attitude

Qualifications

2- or 4-year degree in the field of Turfgrass Management

Self-Driven, highly motivated work ethic and ability to lead in a team-oriented environment

Ability to work extended hours including weekends and holidays as needed

Must have or have the ability to obtain and Illinois Pesticide license

Must Possess a valid driver's license

Bi-lingual skills in Spanish are highly recommended

Physical requirements include the ability to stand for long periods of time, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach, push, pull or lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able to work in noisy environments as well as hot or cold temperatures.
