SOME (So Others Might Eat) provides material aid and comfort to our vulnerable neighbors in the District of Columbia, helping them to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness through programs and services that save lives, improve lives, and help to transform the lives of individuals and families, their communities, and the systems and structures that affect them. We meet immediate needs with food, clothing, and healthcare, and offer the tools one needs to live with hope, dignity, and greater independence.

Compensation: We offer our employees a competitive compensation and benefits package that reflects our organizational culture, mission, and core values. The salary range for this position is $86,507.00 to $91,484.10 and may be commensurate with experience.

Position Description The Program Director provides administrative and clinical oversight to Jordan House, an alternative to psychiatric hospitalization, and Mary Claire House, a residential program of extended psychiatric support.

Schedule Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (40 hours per week); rotating on-call shift

Required Bachelor’s Degree; 5-7 yrs experience in Mental Health treatment services; 2 yrs supervisory experience.

Master’s Degree; 7-10 yrs experience in Mental Health treatment services; 2-3 yrs experience in a management or supervisory role

Required License/Certification CPR/First-Aid, Driver’s License, LICSW or LPC by the District of Columbia Department of Health

Expected Contributions Mental Health Treatment Services Management

Program Oversight

Oversee and ensure overall program operations run smoothly

Act as liaison with outside agencies and collaborate with public mental health agencies

Oversee and collect program statistics for clients, demographics, dispositions, etc., and input data into ECW and the CRM systems

Develop monthly and quarterly reports for the Department of Behavioral Health and SOME Leadership

Develop and manage schedules for Crisis Counselors and program coverage

Participate in daily client staffing meetings

Conduct intakes for volunteers and interns

Manage on-call staff and track hours

Oversee program administrative tasks, including ordering supplies and handling invoices

Promote trauma-informed, inclusive, and recovery-oriented team culture

Support with onboarding and training for new employees and practicum students, and support current staff with continuing education and learning

Provide on-call support on weekends

Ensure safety and security procedures are followed and lead emergency response when required

Provide upkeep and general maintenance for the house, including communication with Facilities Management and inputting work orders when necessary

Ensure appropriate department staffing levels in order to meet objectives; Assess, evaluate, and hire new employees as needed

Contribute to budget development, and use sound judgement to leverage resources in accomplishing department goals; Administer budget and comply with SOME financial reporting requirements

Contribute to strategy development and strive to improve department functions and performance; Assist in the development of standards and goals as appropriate

Submit administrative paperwork to Human Resources, Finance, Compliance, and CQI; Refer to the SOME Employee Handbook or policies for guidance

Maintain professional documentation and ensure the program is in compliance with SOME CQI standards

Ensure compliance with all state, local, and federal laws governing the workplace and all department functions

Schedule staff work hours, as needed, and monitor for time and attendance; Approve time cards and requests for leave

Provide direction and guidance to staff members on department operations and procedures

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

In-depth understanding of the treatment of substance abuse, mental health issues, and co-occurring disorders

Knowledge of the DC Public Mental Health System

Demonstrates good judgment to provide clinical support and care

Organized with an attention to detail

Coaching/teaching skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Mission-driven

Flexibility with the ability to multitask despite competing priorities

Proficient with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook

Reports To Senior Director, Outpatient Mental Health

Physical Demands Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds. Requires looking at a computer screen for several hours a day. May be required to sit for long periods.
