At least five (5) years of progressive experience in compensation and/or benefits administration, preferably in a complex or higher education environment.
At least two (2) years of supervisory experience.
Knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
Knowledge of HRIS systems and reporting tools.
Demonstrated experience managing projects and leading operational improvements.
Excellent data analysis, project management, and communication skills.
Ability to exercise judgment, discretion, and leadership within the scope of university policy and objectives.
Professional certification ( SHRM -CP, SHRM - SCP, or equivalent)
Job Description Responsible for leading the University’s compensation, benefits, and well-being functions under the direction of the Chief Human Resources Officer. Develops rewards strategies, systems, and programs that are aligned with University strategies and objectives while providing development and leadership to professional staff. Serves as a member of the HR Leadership Team and collaborates with HR leaders and business partners to ensure alignment of objectives and projects.
Job Duties Lead the strategic planning, development, and implementation of compensation programs and structures that support the University’s ability to attract, retain, and reward talent. Participate in appropriate compensation surveys and conduct market analyses to properly benchmark University roles to market realities.
Oversee the evaluation and maintenance of the University’s classification system inclusive of position descriptions and salary grades/ranges.
Collaborate with leaders on compensation planning, career ladder development, job leveling, and other related items to ensure that compensation practices meet business needs within the broader University framework and are being implemented in a consistent manner.
Lead or coordinate compensation and/or benefits-related audits both initiated from within (classification audits) or by external entities (e.g. internal audit).
Provide necessary reporting to facilitate data driven decisions and maintain compliance with University, State, Federal, and other requirements. Ensure that compensation and benefits practices are compliant with applicable laws and regulations. Advise campus leadership and HR partners on total rewards trends, opportunities, compliance, and risks.
Ensure that the administration of State benefit programs is efficient and accurate, supporting the employee and retiree experience.
Propose and implement voluntary benefits recommendations and programs that enhance the University’s offerings and employer of choice initiatives.
Oversee the communication planning for total rewards initiatives including, but not limited to open enrollment, annual salary review, voluntary benefits initiatives, and well being programming.
Serve as a custodian and subject matter expert as it relates to compensation and benefits data and reporting in the University’s HRIS system.
Implement well being programs, strategies, and events that support employee health and further drive employee engagement.
Partner with key stakeholders within HR including, but not limited to, HR Business Partners, Talent Development & Communication, Talent Acquisition, and HR leaders to ensure alignment on rewards strategies and broader HR projects/initiatives. Serve on committees and project teams as assigned.
Maintain and update HR metrics for areas under responsibility.
Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts as assigned.
Lead and develop a team of high performing, customer focused team members who remain up to date on trends, practices, and processes in the total rewards areas that they are assigned to.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
