The Phoenix Zoo is the only zoo in the Valley accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and is a non-profit zoological park, serving nearly 1.4 million guests annually. Graphic Designer I FLSA Status : Full Time, Regular, Non-Exempt
General Statement:
The Graphic Designer I provides creative design solutions by conceptualizing and designing a wide variety of marketing and communication materials while maintaining the integrity of the ACNC’s brand and adhering to graphic standards. The Graphic Designer I will also provide support in all phases of the production process.
Provide quality guest service to both internal and external guests by maintaining a WILD (friendly, helpful, positive and professional) working attitude and appearance.
Conceptualize, design, and produce a wide variety of marketing and communication materials including, but not limited to advertisements, brochures, flyers, logos, posters, publications, and signage.
Collaborate with the creative director, graphics team and project stakeholders to create compelling visual solutions that reinforce the ACNC’s brand.
Take direction and provide alternative design solutions as needed.
Monitor and track production projects to ensure proper and timely completion; work with outside vendors to meet production deadlines.
Develop and maintain organized computer folders and files.
Assist with production-related tasks as needed (e.g., signage production and installation, printing flyers and programs, large-format cutting, etc.).
Proactively keep up with current design trends, tools, and best practices to continually evolve creative work.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in graphic design along with 1–2 years of experience in the graphic design field.
A portfolio demonstrating a range of design work across print, environmental, and digital media.
Strong design and production skills.
Strong creativity with illustration capabilities.
Computer proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
Ability to work on various projects simultaneously and efficiently.
Ability to handle multiple deadlines and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Must be a self-starter with the ability to pay attention to detail, prioritize, multi-task and work within specific timeframes.
Ability to use a variety of production equipment (e.g., X-Acto knife, box cutter, cordless drill, etc.).
Possession of valid driver’s license.
Ability to pass pre-employment background and DMV check, and drug test.
