Mechanical Designer
— Location: Conyers, GA (Hybrid / Remote Options Available) About Raymond

A Mechanical Designer is a technical role within the Mechanical Engineering department, supporting complex mechanical and plumbing system designs for architectural building projects. This position works closely with engineers, project managers, and project teams to develop high-quality construction documents, perform field assessments, and contribute to successful project delivery. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and the ability to mentor junior staff while managing work with minimal supervision. Key Responsibilities
Develop mechanical and plumbing designs for building projects, including HVAC systems, controls, and building automation systems Perform design, drafting, and coordination using AutoCAD and Revit Prepare and edit technical specifications using MasterSpec or SpecsIntact formats Conduct site visits, field assessments, and construction observations Develop technical engineering documents, reports, and client deliverables Communicate effectively with architects, engineers, regulatory agencies, and other project stakeholders Assist with project leadership activities from concept through completion Support project fee development and budget awareness Mentor and assist in training junior technical staff Maintain organized documentation of calculations, drawings, and project communications Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET/EAC-accredited program, or Equivalent non-U.S. four-year engineering degree (subject to review) Experience requirements vary by education level, generally ranging from 7–10+ years of relevant mechanical engineering and design experience Strong experience with HVAC and plumbing system design for building projects Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit Experience with Trane Trace 3D and Trane 700 preferred Familiarity with federal criteria such as UFC, DOD, and VA standards is a plus Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project teams FE exam completion is a plus Ability to travel to project sites and attend client or company meetings as needed Working Conditions
This role may involve both office and field environments, including construction sites. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, work in varied weather conditions, and use a computer for extended periods.
