Overview

The Derivative Designer is responsible for all aspects of the design process, by transforming the initial conceptual design using CAD into working submittal documents, and to produce fabrication documents from these submittal documents. Responsibilities

Utilize information received from System Design Leader/Project Design Manager to create submittal documents, shop and fabrication drawings Responsible for understanding project specifications, including the typologies, areas and systems used in various projects Responsible for adhering to the project “Phases” determined by the Design Project Manager Responsible for coordinating with Design Project Manager to make arrangements for any special conditions required by the project Study and develop shop drawings, fabrication drawings and PMF To be fully conversant with the Groups Design Process. Mentor & instruct junior members of the team. Conduct the first check (thorough) of all work done by the team members before issuing to the PDM. Any other duties assigned by the SDL or PDM. To supervise & assist with the production of all elevation, floor plan & details drawings according to the project-working program. To report to the SDL & PDM any slips or deviations from program which might occur. To ensure the derivative design drawings tally with the structural calculation. Other duties as needed by specific business unit/department As an employee of the company, you must be involved in safety initiatives and programs such as the safety committee, safety inspections, evacuations and training. You must apply and follow all safety policies and procedures while integrating safety into your daily work. Requirements

Bachelor degree preferred, or Associate degree (with relevant experience) in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or Civil Engineering Must be proficient in Auto CAD, and/or Solidworks; experience with Microsoft Office 3-5 year’s related experience. Experience in construction/curtainwall industries a plus.
