Competitive earnings potential includes an hourly base wage plus UNCAPPED commissions on all WRITTEN Sales. Responsible for creating sales utilizing exceptional customer service and knowledge of the La‑Z‑Boy selling process, products and services. Strive to create long-term customer relationships that will lead to increased sales and profitability. Develop awareness of interior design through practical experience, observation and interaction with a La‑Z‑Boy Designer. Training Pay: $20 per hour for 2-6 weeks (no commissions; base rate varies by location). Average Annual Earning Potential After Training: $50,000 - $70,000+ (inclusive of $13.50 base hourly PLUS uncapped commission).
Job Description Key Responsibilities (other duties as assigned):
Drives Sales: Contribute to store sales goals by selling furniture, accessories and services offered by La‑Z‑Boy
Promote the Design program & assist the Designer to achieve established Design program sales goals
Consistently execute the La‑Z‑Boy selling process and strive to provide a favorable experience to all customers
Develop and utilize sales skills including approach, rapport building, needs discovery, customized portfolio presentations, handling objections, closing, follow-up, after-sale service, and continuing contact with customers
Maximize store promotions, marketing initiatives, and grassroots programs
Maintain strong knowledge of features and benefits of existing and new product lines
Design Program: Schedule professional home consultations to present customized room designs and installation services
Execute and champion the Design process following company guidelines
Support design-related functions in the store
Customer Focus: Provide the highest level of customer service to all customers
Ensure informative and positive customer experiences by following the selling process
Use Podium to ensure customer satisfaction and future follow-up
Make sound business decisions to deliver customer satisfaction and promote teamwork
Respond promptly to calls and emails; assist with customer issues and provide solutions
People: Maintain positive working relationships with store employees; assist in training and coaching new peers
Operational Excellence: Maintain visual appearance of the store, manage orders, deposits, and customer records; complete daily On‑Point system logs; ensure timely deliveries and store opening/closing
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent
Previous selling experience and ability to close a sale strongly preferred
Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills
Strong interpersonal skills to communicate, build rapport, and influence
Demonstrated persuasion and negotiation skills
Ability to manage time and conflicting priorities; work as part of a team
Ability to work the schedule dictated by business needs, including evenings, weekends and holidays
Initiative to meet goals and be motivated to achieve more
Strong attention to detail; proficient in Microsoft Office
Preferred Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field

Physical Demands / Work Environment
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Ability to stand for long periods; repetitive hand motions
Occasional sitting, walking, bending and stooping
Indoor environmental conditions; ability to pass background and drug screen

Pay & Benefits Information
What You Can Expect: Training Pay $20/hour for 2-6 weeks (no commission); Average annual earning after training $50,000 - $70,000 (base + commission); Total compensation range $30,400 - $80,000+ (not less than state/local minimum wage)
Post-Training Pay: Base Pay $13.50/hour; Commission: UNCAPPED on written sales; Commission 1-6% monthly based on sales achievement; base+commission may be adjusted to meet minimum wage
Weekly Hours: 40
Notes: Individual pay is based on location, performance, qualifications, and skills. For minimum wage compliance, the company may adjust base rate plus commissions.
