Position
Your Role in Our Journey
We’re looking for a detail-oriented, collaborative assistant editor to support the Digital Editorial team. Responsibilities will include editorial, search engine optimization, site-auditing, and production tasks. In addition to being a Wordpress wizard, our assistant editor will work closely with the SEO lead to execute search engine optimization tasks and pitch in with product management when necessary. The ideal candidate has a passion for delivering high-quality digital user experiences that achieve business goals and enhance our brand. Being a team player is key—someone eager to pitch in when and where needed. Reporting to the Digital Content Director, this role works closely with several teams across the company, including the Digital, Print, and Tasting Departments as well as the Product, Advertising, and E-Commerce teams. Managing multiple projects at a time will be common and quick turnaround should be expected occasionally.
Key Responsibilities
Editorial/Production: Write introductions/other editorial copy for articles produced in-house, including Buying Guide Roundups, Basics content, and other articles. Participate in editorial meetings, including the weekly editorial stand-up meeting, the biweekly digital editorial pitch meeting, and others. Execute the digital conversions of print stories, published monthly on the print in-home date. Execute the digital conversion of print tentpoles, including our Best of Year lists, Best Restaurants, Wine Star Awards, and Innovators. Help with production tasks. Oversee maintenance of contributor pages.
Search Engine Optimization
Conduct monthly audits of on-site content as relates to Digital Editorial’s monthly themes and help execute updates. Work with our SEO lead to implement SEO tactical hygiene tasks, including cross-linking, building new categories and tags as directed, creating redirects for old content and optimizing titles and meta descriptions as needed.
Qualifications
Must be efficient, detail oriented, curious, flexible, and collaborative. Experience in Wordpress website development; experience with custom blocks and building pages using nuts and bolts Wordpress features is a must. Experience, either in a wine, tech, or editorial capacity. Troubleshooting skills are a must, and when you can’t solve a problem, you can communicate it to developers for fixes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams. Comfortable with task management systems like Monday.com, Jira, and Linear. Passion for wine and drinks

Schedule & Location
This position offers a flexible hybrid schedule, requiring employees to be onsite at our Valhalla, NY headquarters twice per week, with Tuesday designated as a required in-office day.
